Acoustics

Microfilaments : a new generation of acoustic absorption material

Usable in building and cars.

While up to now thick and heavy materials have been used, Evolon®’s microfilament structure provides very efficient sound absorption, with a minimum thickness and a weight reduced by 10 to 30 times. It can be used as a composite under-layer, or converted to acoustic drapes, blinds and curtains.

Key Benefits

  • Acoustics
  • enrironmentally-friendly
  • Warming
  • Converting

Acoustics

Acoustics

Evolon® has very good sound absorption properties.

The tightly entangled multi-directional microfilaments create millions of “micro”- air channels which allows for the optimum air permeability required to absorb sound energy.

Enrironmentally-friendly

Environmentally-friendly

Evolon® is a long-lasting material which helps reducing the impact of waste on our environment.

In Evolon®, there is no binder, no solvent. Skin contact irritations are prevented.

Warming

Thermal insulation

Thanks to the air contained in the microfilament structure, Evolon® provides very good thermal insulation.

Converting

Standard converting

Evolon® can be processed with the traditional textile processes. It can be dyed, printed, finished. It can also be cut and sewn as other fabrics.

With non fraying edges, Evolon® also provides the advantage of easier converting, making overstitching useless.

Acoustic absorption is optimum at 2000 Hz and more.

As an example…
Installing Evolon® acoustic drapes in a large open-space restaurant helped reduce sound levels by 6-10 decibels

Technical Data

Optimum air permeability
Sound energy is absorbed by Evolon® thanks to the air permeability of the internal structure of tightly entangled microfilaments, with only 100g/m² and a thickness of about 0.5mm.

Technology

Acoustics properties of such a thin fabric result from Evolon® high technology. More
