Evolon® is very strong and isotropic, meaning properties are similar in any direction. Good mechanical characteristics result in a fabric that will not lose its shape or uniformity, even after heavy use and multiple wash cycles.

Evolon® is ideal for durable and demanding applications due to the unique structure of endless microfilaments. Unlike staple fibers, endless microfilaments ensure strength and dimensional stability.

Evolon® is “comfort” because it is lightweight, soft and drapable.

Evolon® is “trust” because it is soft and smooth and provides perfect protection of surfaces, with no scratch, no abrasion.

Evolon® is breathable, which means it is permeable to water vapour. This is due to the extremely fine microfilaments, which create millions of “micro”-channels to allow air flow.

These microfilaments also provide superior moisture management: water such as sweat is absorbed by Evolon®, the fabric then dries very quickly wicking moisture away from the skin.

In industrial applications such as technical packaging, breathability also allows solvent residues to evaporate through Evolon®.

With a very large internal surface area, created by microfilaments, in contact with the air, Evolon® dries very fast.

Evolon® is a perfect protective layer against dust mite allergens.

Evolon®’s filtration ability is due to the dense, compact structure of tightly entangled microfilaments. The very small dust mite allergen parts are retained under the Evolon® layer, and cannot get in contact with the allergy sufferer. No “plastic” coating, no additional chemical treatment is needed to achieve this protection.

Evolon® is downproof. The dense compact fabric holds feathers in down comforters and pillows. 

Thanks to the air contained in the microfilament structure, Evolon® provides very good thermal insulation.

Evolon® has very good sound absorption properties.

The tightly entangled multi-directional microfilaments create millions of “micro”- air channels which allows for the optimum air permeability required to absorb sound energy.

Evolon® has a unique matt artistic look. With digital printing, Evolon® printing media show bright colours and sharp pictures.

Thanks to its highly dense and compact structure, Evolon® provides outstanding UV protection. Its Ultra-violet Protection Factor (UPF) is 50+, the highest one according to norm AS / NZS 4399-1996. In real measures, we have found that the UV protection provided by Evolon® is more than 8 times the maximum level mentioned in this norm.

Evolon® is windproof. This is another barrier property of the microfilament compact structure.

Unlike staple fibres, Evolon®’s microfilaments are endless, which make it perfectly lint-free. As a consequence, Evolon® is the ideal material to be in contact with sensitive surfaces, for protection as well as lint free wiping applications.

In wiping applications, Evolon® performance is outstanding on dirt, dust, liquids, grease and inks… in household cleaning or demanding industrial environments.

Evolon® microfilaments are up to 100 times thinner than a human hair, and 5 to 10 times thinner than some other microfiber. The extremely thin microfilaments make Evolon® the most efficient at trapping dirt, dust and other kinds of contaminants.

Thanks to the very large internal surface area of microfilaments, Evolon® can absorb up to 400% of its own weight in liquid.

Evolon® itself can be washed many times in temperatures up to 95°C.
Maximum washing temperatures may vary depending on the final product.

For example, Evolon® anti-mite encasings can generally be washed up to 95°C.

Evolon® can be processed with the traditional textile processes. It can be dyed, printed, finished. It can also be cut and sewn as other fabrics.

With non fraying edges, Evolon® also provides the advantage of easier converting, making overstitching useless.

As an option, for some applications like technical packaging, Evolon® can be finished with a water-repellent treatment.

Washable
